  • "Recycling bin should be larger!"

All in all very good cottage, good base for day trips e.g. fishing, sight seeing...

    - Gerhard, August 2019

  • "Great cottage, very comfortable and lovely that the owners leave items for us to borrow such as fishing rods, board games, DVDs and surf boards."

Lovely view and location, would definitely recommend, great that they do not take smokers or pets for us as well.

    - Karen, August 2019

  • "We had a wonderful relaxing time in a great holiday location."

The hosts couldnt have been better.

    - Sheila, July 2019

  • "Very well equipped cottage with everything you needed there."

    Very quiet location.

    - Thomas, July 2018

  • "Excellent cottage."

Exceptionally well equipped. We holiday in Ireland on a very frequent basis and were very impressed by the standard of this cottage. There was plenty of room - open plan living / dining room with a cosy mezzanine above. Ideal situation, overlooking Lough Melvin. We had some beautiful tranquil walks and cycles around the lake. Bundoran is only a short distance away for beach walks. Will definitely return to this cottage.

  • "Beautiful place with everything you need."

Loved staying here would highly recommend it.

    - Paula, August 2017

  • "The house was even better than the description and pictures."

Everything you could possibly need, home from home. The owner was very welcoming and had left supplies to get us started. Would definitely recommend this house.

  • "What a fabulous house and location, we were met by Mary who welcomed us and very thoughtfully supplied us with fresh bread, milk ,tea , coffee, eggs, butter, juice, cereals etc, she showed us around her beautiful spotless home and we were very pleasantly surprised at the facilities, the overall finish and the decoration, of the cottage holiday home ."

The large double height kitchen was stocked with lots of crockery and pots , pans, cooking utensils, gas hob and electric oven so a proper meal could be prepared . The house was centrally heated and very comfortable and the water for the showers was always piping hot. plenty of towels and bed linens also supplied. An added touch was the dvd player and selection of films to suit all ages and also the various board games, cards and reading materials which were made available. The only slight negative I could say is the road outside the cottage. though it is a country road it has drivers that occasionally speed along it , we had a five year old child with us and we made sure the gates were closed, but children would need to be supervised if playing in the garden near the front of the cottage . Set in a very scenic location on the shore of lough Melvin this cottage has been the best one I have stayed in , the owners, Richard and Mary are to be congratulated for offering their holiday home to rent, if I owned such a property I should be content to live there all year long.

  • "The owner went totally above all hopes with this cottage."

What a fantastic weekend we had. It was a beautiful cottage where old and new were merged together perfectly. There was loads of everything in the house, nothing was amiss. We had used the house as a base for touring, and my American comrades had a fantastic holiday that will never be forgotten. The owner, her family and their rental home made the week unforgettable. There were spectacular views of the Lake also.

The property

Situated on the banks of the beautiful Lough Melvin, and only five miles from the village of Kinlough in County Leitrim, this splendid detached cottage is ideal for a family break away-from-it-all on the Emerald Isle.

With breathtaking lake views and a whole host of modern comforts and conveniences, this cottage has been lovingly renovated, offering a pleasing mix of a traditional atmosphere and contemporary design.

Tastefully decorated throughout, this lovely cottage boasts a bright and airy open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with a warming solid fuel stove, as well as a splendid curved barn-style ceiling above, making this the ideal social space in which the party's chef can prepare a celebratory meal, whilst chatting with the rest of the group as they relax with a glass of something cool in hand.

If you look up from this room you'll see a mezzanine area, the ideal retreat to hideaway with a good book in the evening.

The three lovingly-furnished and well-appointed bedrooms are situated in the older part of the cottage, with one featuring an en-suite shower room, ideal to come home to after a busy day adventuring with your loved ones.

Venture outside and you'll find a covered decked area with furniture, a great spot to dine alfresco on a summer's evening whilst admiring the views of Lough Melvin.

Just across a quiet country road, this cottage also has access to a private lake, where you can take a stroll or fish if you choose.

From your doorstep it's easy to immerse yourself in all the countryside has to offer, with walks uphill taking in stunning views of Lough Melvin and Donegal Bay.

The village of Kinlough boasts a fine selection of independent shops, local pubs and welcoming restaurants, ideal for an evening out with your family before heading back to your lovely holiday home.

The village is the perfect starting point from which to explore all of the north west of Ireland, with a multitude of attractions within easy reach, including the seaside town of Bundoran, the historic town of Donegal and of course, Ireland's breathtaking Wild Atlantic Way, where craggy cliffs meet sandy shores, along Europe's longest coastal route.

On the route you'll discover some of the most wonderful scenery you could imagine, with the beaches at Mullaghmore, Streedagh in County Sligo and the Slieve League Cliffs near Carrick, in Donegal.

Hop in the car and just a short drive away you'll be rewarded by the striking shores of the Atlantic Ocean, whilst closer to home Rossinver offers an Organic Centre which is a haven for those who love gardening.

Whether it's walking, golfing, surfing, swimming, diving or fishing that you love, this stunning region offers you endless opportunities for enjoying yourself.
