Move your YouTube channel to another account
You can move your channel and its videos over from one account to another. Note that if your account is a supervised account or a work or school account, you cannot move your channel.
Before you start:
YouTube channel is automatically connected to an account. There are two different types of accounts:
Google Account | You need a Google Account to sign in to YouTube. Your channel name is automatically the same as the one on your Google Account. |
Brand Account | A Brand Account is an account that is specifically for your brand. This account is different from your personal Google Account. If a channel is linked to a Brand Account, more than one Google Account can manage it. |
Learn how to create a Brand Account:
- First, check if you already have a Brand Account.
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Go to your channel list.
- Click Create a channel.
- Fill out the details to name the Brand Account and verify your account. Then, click Create. You've created your Brand Account.
Move your channel to another Brand Account associated with the same Google Account:
- Sign in to YouTube.
- At the top of your screen, click your profile picture.
- If needed, switch accounts to the Google Account associated with the channel you want to move.
Warning:
You can accidentally delete the wrong channel. To avoid this mistake, check that you're in the Google Account associated with the channel you want to move.
- Click Settings.
- Click Advanced settings.
- Click Move channel to a Brand Account.
- Choose the account that you want to move to from the list on your screen. If you don't have a list of accounts, it could be for a few reasons:
- Your Google Account is not the primary account owner. Learn more about how to change channel owners.
- Other users have access to your channel in Studio permissions. To continue, you first have to remove these users in Studio. Learn more about how to remove access.
- Your channel had been using a Brand Account and moved to permissions. To continue, you first must opt your channel out of Studio permissions.
- To opt out, select "Opt out of permissions in YouTube Studio" under YouTube Studio's Settings Permissions.
- If the account you choose is already associated with a YouTube channel, click Replace, then select Delete channel in the box that pops up.
- Important: Doing so will delete the channel that is already associated with that account. Any content associated with this channel will be permanently deleted, including videos, comments, messages, playlists, and history.
- Check how your channel name will appear after moving, then click Move channel.
- Reminder: Doing so will delete any existing channel and the videos already associated with the account that you're moving to.
- Note: You may be asked to enter your password and re-authenticate. Learn more about re-authenticating your account.
Note that some content can't be moved, such as: all comments made by the channel, sent and received messages, verification badges, and automated filter community settings. A warning message will pop up if your channel has this content. If you have a custom URL, you must remove it from your current account, then set up a custom URL on your new account after 72 hours.
Move your Brand Account to a different Google Account:
- On YouTube, sign in as the owner of the Brand Account.
- In the top right, click your profile picture Settings .
- Under "Account," select Add or remove manager(s).
- Click Manage permissions.
- Note: You may be asked to enter your password and re-authenticate. Learn more about re-authenticating your account.
- Choose Invite new users .
- Enter the email address of the Google Account you would like to move your channel to.
- Below their name, choose their role:
- Owners can take the most actions, and they control who manages the account. An account must have one primary owner.
- Select Invite Done.
- Accept the email invite sent to the newly added Google Account.
- After seven days, sign in via the new Google Account and return to Manage Permissions.
- From the Down arrow, change the role of the signed-in account to primary owner.
- Click Transfer in the box that pops up.
